Go large at the iconic conservation zoo this summer
Saturday 22 July – Sunday 3 September
Families are invited to London’s biggest family day out this summer, at the iconic London Zoo – home to big cats, giant Galapagos tortoises and the largest penguin pool in the UK.
New for 2023, from Saturday 22 July to Sunday 3 September there’ll be no cheat-ahs allowed at the Really Wild Challenge: wildlife lovers can play their way through the animal kingdom, going head-to-head with their ‘troop’ to test their wild skills, while trying their hand at being a ZSL conservationist – working to protect wildlife across the world.
Scorecard at the ready, kids can test their agility as they creep and crawl through a web of jingly ‘jungle vines’ trying not to wake the Sleeping Tigers. Those with a steady hand can prove their stealth as they guide an eel through its remarkable trans-Atlantic migration for Don’t Buzz the Buzzer, while budding conservationists can practice their aim with Tail Tag, looping radio collars on to replica animal tails to ‘track their range’.
The zoo will also host the largest Hook a Duck* challenge in London, as the iconic Grade I listed Lubetkin Penguin pool is transformed into the fair-ground favourite – with more than 1000 rubber ducks calling it home for the summer.
Add in oversized brainteasers Savannah Scramble, Paws and Claws, Hurry to The Hive, Spot the Difference and Poo Dunnit?, and there’ll be big fun for everyone this July and August.
Whether you win big on the Really Wild Challenge or not, London Zoo is never short of super-sized experiences. Come face-to-face with a colony of Humboldt penguins as they dart and dive in England’s biggest penguin pool, before saying hello to a newborn Golden lion tamarin in London’s largest living rainforest. And don’t forget to visit the zoo’s big cats – Endangered Asiatic lions Bhanu and Arya, as well as Critically Endangered Sumatran tiger cubs, Zac and Crispin.
At the end of the biggest day out in London, kids can cool down in the Animal Adventure Splash Zone, while parents soak up the summer sun with an ice-cream milkshake at the Penguin Beach Café.
With more than 14,000 incredible animals to be inspired by, and free entry for under 3s, London Zoo’s BIG Summer of Fun, running from 22 July to 3 September, is the ultimate big value day out this summer holidays.
