*Leading transport body fundraises for Eastbourne Lifeboats
*The money was raised at the recent CPT regional dinner
*Regional Chair Matthew Arnold presented the cheque to RNLI Eastbourne this week
Over £500 has been raised for Eastbourne RNLI thanks to a fundraising event from a leading transport body.
The Confederation of Passenger Transport, the trade association for the UK’s bus and coach sector, raised the funds at their South East and London Annual Dinner last autumn at the Grand Hotel in Eastbourne, which had over 120 attendees.
CPT’s London and South East Chairman Matthew Arnold was on hand to present Eastbourne RNLI’s Operations Manager Carl Pocock their cheque in Sovereign Harbour.
Matthew Arnold, who is also Commercial Director at bus operator Stagecoach South East, said:
“It was a real pleasure to present this cheque to our friends at RNLI Eastbourne. The lifeboat crew do an incredible job on behalf of us all, so it was an obvious choice of charity for us to fundraise for. It was great to meet everyone, all the crew are so humble!”
Carl Pocock, on being handed the cheque, said:
“We are extremely grateful to receive this amazing donation from CPT. The RNLI is entirely dependent on donations from the public to keep our lifeboats afloat so this money will go directly to helping us continue to save lives at sea.”
