Even before the summer holidays have started West Country travel specialists Bakers Dolphin have put in place schedules to help people in the region have a memorable Christmas this year
The build up to the festive season and holidays over Christmas and New Year are now so popular that Bakers Dolphin have compiled a 40-page brochure of festive breaks, holidays and outings and already the favourite destinations are being snapped up.
Sales and Marketing Director Amanda Harrington said: “Ten years ago there were a small number of people who liked to go away for Christmas or the New Year. Now it has become one of the major holiday seasons lasting for several months, starting with shopping trips and Christmas markets and going into the New Year.
“The shopping trips have now developed into two-day breaks where people can go to major shopping centres like Lakeside and Bluewater. This year we have two new shopping overnight trips, one taking in Chester and Trafford and another to Shrewsbury and Worcester.
“Even more popular are the Christmas markets and this year we have 16 different destinations, including the original German markets, the excitement of Paris or Bruges and those closer to home in Birmingham, which has become a tremendously popular market destination.”
Bookings are being taken from across the South West region by the Weston-super-Mare business, which has been providing coach holidays and helping people with travel plans for more than 100 years.
New destinations have been added for Christmas and New Year breaks and for the first time Christmas themed events have been added.
These include a Christmas concert at the Royal Albert Hall; a Christmas show at Thursford, Norfolk; special live music and performances at Warner Leisure Hotels and Christmas decorations at the Beamish Open Air Museum.
