NEW LANARK WORLD HERITAGE SITE, SCOTLAND – Visit New Lanark this Easter for a weekend of fun for all the family. Join us from Friday 10th April to Monday 13th April when the Easter Bunny will be bouncing around this amazing historic hub of learning and leisure, one of Scotland’s 6 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. There will be fun activities for the whole family to enjoy
Try to catch the Easter bunny before heading to his spring garden where every child will receive a small gift. Join the Easter Bunny’s helpers take part in arts and crafts, making stained glass window Easter Eggs and colouring-in an egg-cellent Easter headband.
Also on site at New Lanark over Easter weekend, will be a bumper ‘Makers Market’, from 10.30 – 5pm each day, with the best of Scotland’s food and drink and a range of artisan gifts exhibiting in The Institute. In the exhibition space, you will find a celebration of local and international textile traders, featuring New Lanark Woollen Yarn, designer knitwear products, and textile artwork. There will also be specialist workshops throughout the day at extra cost, where pre booking is required.
And of course, don’t forget to celebrate Easter Sunday itself with a delicious Easter 3 course lunch on the 12th April 2020 at the New Lanark Mill Hotel.
Or why not make an Easter weekend break of it and book one of the hotel’s comfortable bedrooms, take a dip in the swimming pool before discovering the amazing history of New Lanark at its award-winning Visitor Attraction and New Lanark’s brand new exhibition, “Tenement Through Time: Living in New Lanark 1881 – 1971”. Alternatively, dress up in period dress in Robert Owen’s House and enjoy one of our daily tours.
Textile production and innovation has been the continuous thread throughout New Lanark’s history, from the village’s early years as the one-time largest cotton manufacturer in Scotland, to now producing over 60 shades of high-quality woollen yarn using historic textile machinery and launching the world’s first Organic Tartan in 2015. Explore the many attractions when visiting New Lanark this Easter; the visitor centre and exhibition areas, recreated millworkers’ houses, historic working machinery and the nearby ‘Falls of Clyde’ waterfalls which will be a haven of spring wildlife. There is also a Mill Shop selling locally made textiles and a welcoming Mill Café, so kick back, relax and enjoy the heritage at New Lanark over one of their award winning delicious ice-creams.
