There are plenty of shows and events happening at the Yvonne Arnaud this year, across the theatre’s Main Stage and Mill Studio, that are perfect for group trips.
The theatre’s own production of Ladies of Letters, starring Tessa Peake-Jones (Only Fools and Horses, Grantchester) and Gwyneth Strong (Only Fools and Horses, Eastender), opens in Guildford on 28 April before touring nationally throughout May and June. Written by Carole Hayman and Lou Wakefield, don’t miss this riotously funny, sharply observant comedy, adapted by the acclaimed Jonathan Harvey (Coronation Street, Gimme Gimme Gimme). Originally written for BBC Radio 4, running for 13 years, Ladies of Letters also became a hugely popular ITV series.
The Summer season is also jam-packed with a host of touring productions, including Olivier Award-winning The Mountaintop, the world’s first stage adaptation of The Da Vinci Code, and Hilary Bonner’s fast-moving political thriller Dead Lies.
There’s plenty for families too. For little ones, In The Night Garden Live, The Gruffalo and The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show see much-loved television and picture book characters come to life on stage. For older children, there’s a thrilling ensemble retelling of Michael Morpurgo’s bestselling WW1 story, Private Peaceful, and an amazing production of David Walliams’ Billionaire Boy!
Looking ahead to Christmas, another festive family pantomime will be sprouting from the Yvonne Arnaud’s stage this Christmas, and it’s going to be a giant load of fee-fi-fo-fun for all aged 5 to 105! Jack and the Beanstalk will be packed full of all the sparkles, songs and side-splitting silliness you could ask for. It’s never too early to book – reserve your group tickets now to secure the best seats.
Discounts apply if you are booking as a group, dependent on your group size, and must be booked through the Box Office. There is also a bus stop outside the theatre if you are coming by coach. Call 01483 44 00 00 to make enquiries and book.
