One of Cardiff’s longest established travel shops has re-launched to meet a new, growing demand for coach holidays.
The Coach Holiday Shop, opposite the bus station in Cardiff, has been providing coach holidays across the UK and Europe for nearly 20 years, but a rise in the number of young people and families booking coach holidays has seen a revival in the market.
The shop hosted a city centre garden party to celebrate its re-launch and those passing by were treated to free ice creams, live entertainment and garden games.
George Johnson, Director of Leisuretime’s Coach Holiday Shop, said: “Coach holidays are enjoying a new-found popularity. Once dominated by older holiday makers, a new generation of customers are now discovering this kind of holiday too. We are seeing more and more younger people come through the doors, mums and daughters looking for a great value getaway with the girls, and families looking for hassle-free, fun holidays that take care of everything for you. Actually, we’ve seen a 20% rise in people under 40 booking with us in the last two years alone.”
George Johnson continued, “There has been a real shift in attitudes towards coach holidays. People now demand excellent value in every aspect of the lives and their increasingly stressful and busy schedules mean that a coach holiday where all the arrangements and travel are taken care of is very appealing. The younger generation and students in particular are making the most of good value coach holidays to explore the UK and Europe and catch up with friends along the way.”
Katie Shorten, 30 from Penylan, said: “We’ve recently been on our first coach holiday to Cornwall with a group of friends and it was brilliant. We are all very busy with work and children and no-one had the time to organise travel and accommodation, let alone look at ideas of things to do! A coach holiday meant all we had to worry about was turning up for the bus in time. After that we could just sit back and enjoy catching up with our friends. It was also a lot cheaper than any of the other breaks we looked at so we hope we can squeeze in a few more through the year too.”
The new Coach Holiday Shop is open 7 days a week at South Gate House on Wood Street in Cardiff. For more details:-
