Group travel organisers [GTOS]from all over the UK descended on Llandudno this week for a very special showcase event [25-28 September].
The Daish’s Holidays Group Showcase took place at the Somerset Hotel on the majestic seafront of this long established and popular resort in North Wales.
Featuring scenic tours of Conway and the Anglesey coast as well as a trip to the dramatic and mountainous terrain of Snowdonia, the event was coordinated by UK group travel specialists Steve Reed Tourism Ltd. The group took in the tour onboard one of Daish’s five brand new Mercedes Benz’s coaches.
The group of 40 GTOS were there to sample Daish’s latest hotel acquisition – the Somerset – and were keen to see a selection of group tours with the hotel as a touring base. They took in a number of top quality attractions and destinations. Courtesy of Cadw Wales, the VIPS visited Conwy Castle as well as Beaumaris Castle.
And Britain’s longest place name Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwlllantysiliogogogogoch was next on the schedule with a visit for lunch and shopping at James Pringles Weavers – a prominent coach attraction and another highlight.
The GTOS also enjoyed the Llandudno Tramway funicular railway ride up the Great Orme – a visit which provided a memorable view of the resort.
Another scenic touring day included the National Trust’s beautiful Bodnant Gardens. This was followed by a tour and lunch of the fascinating and high quality Bodnant Welsh Foods Centre near to the Gardens. A tour of Betws Y Coed and the Llanberis Pass through Snowdonia preceded a visit to the National Slate Museum in Llanberis.
