Enjoy a thrilling staycation this summer at Yorkshire Wildlife Park and experience the morning roar of African Lions

Wake up to the morning roar of African Lions at Yorkshire Wildlife Park and enjoy a thrilling UK staycation this Summer.

A unique opportunity to fall asleep under the stars to the breath-taking sounds of lions, leopards and polar bears will be a highlight of this summer’s staycation stampede. The award-winning Yorkshire Wildlife Park is reopening its Roar and Snore COVID-safe camping experience again this summer as the Covid crisis sets off a British holiday boom worth £7bn by millions deciding to stay in the UK.

The Roar and Snore campsite (which is for tents only) will open on July 16 and run for seven weeks until the start of September with the campsite pitches socially distanced and strict hygiene procedures in place. Guests will also be able to book day tickets or an exclusive ‘after hours’ tour of the expansive Wildlife Park, near Doncaster, and bookings are now open.

According to Visit England, demand for UK holidays, experiences and breaks are expected to be at an all-time high this summer as pandemic restrictions impact foreign trips. Each pitch at the campsite will be a generous 15mx15m providing ample space for six people with one large or two small tents and a vehicle. The Breakfast Cabin will be open in the mornings selling delicious hot and cold refreshments and there will be exclusive evening access to the Masai Pizzeria inside the Park.

“Our Roar and Snore campsites really do take camping to a completely new and cool level,” said Matt Zaremba, Campsite Manager. “Visitors will be spending the night within earshot of some of the most amazing animals and hearing the incredible calls of the park’s exotic inhabitants.

“It’s a staycation to remember and with the current restrictions and government guidance, we have taken every step to ensure that it is COVID safe and sure to be great fun for all the family.  There seems be huge demand – we started getting bookings before we had officially launched.”

Every Friday and Saturday night throughout August campsite guests can enjoy the beautiful Sunset Safari late open evenings in the Wildlife Park which is included in the pitch fee. This allows additional time on the park on these evenings.

A full summer of attractions will also be on offer at the park including the legendary Safari Nights performances with headliners Ronan Keating and Welsh soprano Katherine Jenkins leading the line-ups on August 21 and 28 separate tickets are required for Wild Live Safari Nights and are on sale at www.yorkshirewildlifepark.com and are not included in the camping pitch fee.

Superstar Ronan will be performing tracks from his new album and Katherine will be performing with a live orchestra as the park brings extra enjoyment to the summer.

“It has been a tough year for everyone but there is hope that we are emerging from the worst of the pandemic,” said Matt. “People will not be able to take summer holidays abroad as normal but, thankfully, we are always here to offer fantastic experiences through the summer.

“We look forward to welcoming new guests and familiar faces to the park throughout the summer.”
