This year celebrate the Christmas holidays with Historic Royal Palaces in some of the world’s most historic and memorable settings, from the iconic Tower of London to the majestic Hampton Court Palace.

From 7 December 2021 – 3 January 2022 at Hampton Court Palace, an enchanting and playful evening light trail will offer visitors a chance to explore magical lighting projections, illuminations and lanterns in a unique historical setting. Inspired by the Palace’s famous astronomical clock, your clients will lose track of time as they wander through the illuminated cobbled courtyards and gardens, as dusk falls to reveal a glittering, fantastical wonderland of clocks and moons, of planets and sundials. The twilight trail will be a separately ticketed evening event, so why not treat your clients to a day at the palace, enjoying the spectacular State Apartments during the day, before a special outdoor experience in the evening. Tickets will be released shortly, so keep an eye on the Historic Royal Palaces website for further information – you won’t want to miss out!

Did you know? It was the Victorians who began many of the Christmas traditions we recognise today, with the popularisation of the Christmas card and the decorated tree. From 1 December 2021 – 6 January 2022, the childhood home of Queen Victoria, Kensington Palace, will be decked with period style decorations that even Queen Victoria herself would be amused by. The legendary Tower of London will also provide a stunning backdrop for Christmas this year, with festive decorations throughout the famous fortress set to delight your clients.

Lastly, the paths at Hillsborough Castle and Gardens will become sparkling tunnels of light from 7 December 2021 – 3 January 2022, as a brand new after-dark illuminated trail takes over the gardens. Walk under giant baubles and beneath trees drenched in jewel-like colour, pause at the mesmerising flickering flames in the garden and look out for-Father Christmas along the way! What would Christmas be without a bit of indulgence? Walk under the stars with a spiced winter warmer or a hot chocolate (complete with gooey marshmallows of course!). This trail will be a separately ticketed, timed admission event, so keep an eye on the Historic Royal Palaces website and book early to avoid disappointment!
