Experience the breath-taking power of live classical music in the New Year, as the London Symphony Orchestra invites you to enjoy their electrifying signature sound in evenings of orchestral favourites at the capital’s iconic Barbican Centre.
Coming up in 2020: much-loved British composers Vaughan Williams and Britten are the focus on Sunday 15 March, or be moved by a programme of Haydn, Mozart and Dvořák’s iconic ‘New World’ Symphony on Thursday 21 May. On Saturday 6 June, we round off Sir Simon Rattle’s season-long exploration of sources of musical inspiration in toe-tapping style, with music from Bernstein, Gershwin and more.
BBC Radio 3 Lunchtime Concerts
Groups don’t just receive discounts to our main evening concerts. BBC Radio 3 Lunchtime concerts are a perfect one-hour daytime option when a full-length evening concert isn’t quite right. Taking place on selected Fridays through the year, they feature the beautiful and intimate sounds of chamber music. Each concert is hosted at our venue LSO St Luke’s, just a short walk from the Barbican, plus the on-site Café is open for light lunches and refreshments from 12–3pm.
Half Six Fix
Why not try our early-evening immersive concert format, Half Six Fix? Half Six Fix is a burst of music to kick-start your evening. Hear directly from the conductor about what makes the music so great. Then we play straight through: no interval. If you want to delve deeper, there’ll be screens showing close-ups of the performers and electronic programme notes to view on your phone.
