With a fresh new coat of paint, a new name and new management, the New Theatre Royal Lincoln is open and ready for an exciting Autumn/Winter season ahead!
The Theatre are delighted to present a season that includes a variety of performances from family drama, to live music, comedy drama, plays, musicals, dance, science and not forgetting the traditional Christmas Pantomime.
The season opener is the award-winning Story Pocket Theatre who will present Michael Morpurgo’s epic tale of magic and heroism as King Arthur takes to the stage on Monday and Tuesday, October 17th and 18th. With two 6pm family performances and one schools’ matinee this production comes direct to Lincoln after a successful premiere at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Adam Fletcher-Forde from Story Pocket Theatre says: “It’s very exciting that King Arthur will be the first show at the New Theatre Royal. We are really thrilled to be involved in the launch of such a wonderful new chapter in the history of this beautiful Theatre! We can’t wait!”
This fast-moving family production is the first of Michael Morpurgo’s novels to be adapted by Story Pocket Theatre. The master storyteller and author of War Horse has been Story Pocket Theatre’s Patron since 2013. With imaginative physical theatre, puppetry and outstanding storytelling this show is suitable for brave knights aged 7 years plus and their families.
The Theatre are pleased to support and welcome Lincolnshire’s talented artists, performers and dancers to the stage. The County Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society presents the musical production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels from 26th October – 5th November and Sarah Hogan’s Movement Academy and Shining Stars Theatre Schoolcome to the theatre on the 20th November.
November sees a string of drama with Nobody’s Perfect, a romantic comedy presented by Talking Scarlet on 9th-12th. This play has been touring to amazing reviews and packed audiences with an outstanding cast starring Stephen Beckett (The Bill, Coronation Street) and Leah Bracknell (Emmerdale). Talking Scarlet will also present Party to Murder a comedy thriller from 14th-16th. Featuring Oliver Mellor (Coronation Street), Natasha Gray (Emmerdale) and Michelle Morris (The Knock) six people have come in secret on Halloween to play a murder mystery game. Secret passageways, incriminating letters, hidden compartments and a twenty-five-year-old unsolved mystery twist and turn toward the unexpected and terrifying conclusion.
The drama continues on the 13th November with Paddy. Stand by for a simply outstanding night of theatre as Paddy, a powerful and action-packed musical/drama, starring Internationally-renowned singer Tommy comes to Lincoln.
On 25th November LabLive will be coming to the New Theatre Royal from The Times Cheltenham Science Festival in association with EDF Energy for two free school shows targeted at Key Stage 3.
Live music will feature on 17th November with The Elton John Story. A full on Rock and Roll evening with superb vocals from Jimmy Love giving an insight into the ups and downs of Elton’s life. The music theme continues on 27th November as ex-lead singer with the Drifters – Ray Lewis joins us for an evening of music with Still Drifting with Ray Lewis.
And last but not least The Clock is ticking…so book now. It’s time to meet Cinderella and Prince Charming as Cinderella takes to the stage! Our family pantomime runs from December 5th to January 8th – more information on castings to follow shortly.
