NOW LOOKING TO WORK WITH COACH AND GROUP OPERATORS

  •  Rave reviews for first panto since iconic theatre re-opened in September

The New Theatre Royal Lincoln is looking to work with coach operators and group travel partners around the UK as it starts its first full year under new management, with a packed programme of events.

The iconic theatre is back in the spotlight following a successful 2016/17 panto, Cinderella, that received rave reviews and showcased the stunningly refurbished Grade II-listed building to thousands – both locally and nationally.

It’s an impressive achievement for the intimate 475-seat theatre, which faced a very uncertain future six months ago when former management of the Theatre Royal Lincoln, as it was previously known, ceased trading.

Just as the Fairy Godmother transforms Cinderella from downtrodden to glamorous in the panto, the new owners have transformed the venue, rebranding to its original name and breathing new life into the theatre.

The Theatre Royal Lincoln was taken over last year after the previous management company Moonstone Entertainments Ltd ceased trading on 27 June. New owners New Lincoln Theatre Ltd, run by directors Mike and Natalie Hayes-Cowley, reopened in September 2016 following a revamp and a rebrand to its original name, the New Theatre Royal.

Actors’ trade publication The Stage gave the New Theatre Royal Lincoln’s Cinderella panto four out of five stars and named the show as among its top must-see pantomimes, while the show’s Fairy Godmother Kerry Katona helped the New Theatre Royal Lincoln attract national publicity, with write-ups in The Sun, The Daily Mail and The Daily Star, among others.

In its review, The Stage described the theatre as “a red and gold gem” and said of the panto: “The sets are spectacular and the dance routines perfectly executed.”

Dozens of theatre goers posted reviews on the New Theatre Royal Lincoln’s Facebook, praising theatre staff, and the show itself (see comments at end of release).

The New Theatre Royal Lincoln director Natalie Hayes-Cowley said: “This is the first panto since we took over the venue last year. We attracted audiences from not just Lincoln and the surrounding areas, but people from the South East, London, Wales and the North.

“We’ve worked so hard to return this wonderful Grade II-listed building to its former glory and the whole theatre team have worked their socks off to make this panto such a success and the fabulous reviews and feedback we have received show we have pulled it off.

“With a fresh new coat of paint, a new name and new management, the New Theatre Royal Lincoln is open and ready for our first full-year. We’ve got an exciting programme ahead.

“There’s a lot of interest in Lincoln and the surrounding region at the moment. It’s home to the International Bomber Command Centre, the Lincoln Christmas Market and theTheatre-Royal-Logo_landscape Red Arrows, among other attractions, and we’re keen to speak to coach operators and group travel organisers who want to tie in a show at the New Theatre Royal as part of a bigger tour of Lincoln – or indeed offer a group booking to the theatre as a stand-alone trip. ”
