Castles, Mountains, Whiskey and Gardens Showcased, and Yr Wyddfa Conquered.
Group travel organisers from all over the UK were invited to experience some of North Wales’ top attractions last week [6-10 April].
Hosted by Daish’s Holidays for Groups at their seafront Llandudno Somerset Hotel, the four day familiarisation was arranged by travel trade specialist company Steve Reed Tourism with expert guiding provided by Wales Official Blue Badge Tourist Guide Rhian Wyn Jones.

Rhian entertained the group and even treated them to an impromptu rendition of the Welsh National Anthem during her tour of Conwy Castle.
The superb spring weather provided the backdrop to a variety of attractions around North Wales. Firstly, the group took in two of the most celebrated castles in Wales, Conwy and Beaumaris Castles. The visits were supported by Cadw, the Welsh government’s historic environment service.

The group also took in whisky tasting at the Aber Falls Whisky Distillery. Here, the attendees sampled a number of gins and whiskeys. The scenic tour of North Wales and Anglesey continued with a short stop at a village renowned for having the longest name in Wales and indeed Europe – Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
As a complete contrast the tour planners next visited one of the country’s top gardens – Bodnant Gardens in Conwy Valley. A scenic tour of the world famous Llanberis Pass in Eryri [Snowdonia] next took the GTOS to the Snowdon Mountain Railway. The group were thrilled to sample the majestic scenery and enjoyed a pre-trip chat and refreshments before climbing on board for their trip up Yr Wyddfa [Snowdon].
Some of the attendees also experienced the Great Orme which is located at one end of Llandudno’s pristine seafront. From there it is possible to enjoy views of the surrounding mountains and coastline.
‘We were very happy to host the travel organisers at the Somerset Hotel in Llandudno’ says Martin Jenkins of Daish’s Holidays. Each year we arrange a showcase event like this of one of our hotels across the U|K and there the GTOS can experience our hospitality, excellent food, entertainment and great service.’
There will be another Daish’s Holidays fam’ event later this year, and it will be at the Sandringham Hotel in Weston-super-Mare from 19-22 September. Anyone interested in attending this three-night showcase should email steve@stevereedtourism.co.uk
