Dorset’s award winning International Sand Sculpture Festival – SANDWORLD in Weymouth – returns for an exciting fourth season in 2014 with a new theme “BOOKS & AUTHORS”
Expect to see amazingly detailed sculptures with something for all age and interest groups, created by some of the most imaginative and creatively talented sculptors in the world, brought to your doorstep
This year we feature favourites including Charlie &The Chocolate Factory, Sherlock Holmes and Alice in Wonderland
Suitable for all ages and abilities visitors are encouraged to “have a go” at sand sculpting for themselves in large all weather sculpting areas, with separate areas for the under fives to play with sand and play equipment. Staff are on hand to offer assistance, and sometimes is it possible to engage with professional sculptors, and watch sculptures in progress, depending on the timing of your visit.
The main display is undercover – making Sandworld a suitable visit in all weathers – there is a small café, selling hot and cold drinks, snacks and ice creams. Filling bottles with coloured sand is available at an extra cost, and a well stocked gift shop with Sandworld Souvenirs, local crafts, books and toys completes the visitor experience.
Located right next to a Coach Park, access is easy, and Drivers will be given free access and hospitality. Set with Lodmoor Country Park with walks and pay as you go facilities and an RSPB Reserve close by, 3 minutes from the sea. Group discounts available. An average visit will take between one and two hours.
