Whitchurch Food and Drink Festival is fast approaching its second year and we are proud to welcome celebrity guests including Sean Wilson, AKA Martin Platt from Coronation Street and founder of the Saddleworth Cheese Company, as well as Chef Brian Mellor, whose cookery school in Harthill, Cheshire, was recently awarded the Best Small Cookery School 2014

Diana Beard from the 2014 series of The Great British Bake Off will open the festival which will take place in Diana’s hometown of Whitchurch, Shropshire. This year the festival will once again by completely free to enter, so you can visit us as often as you like over the last weekend in May.

Over 80 trade stands will descend on Whitchurch Civic Centre and Market Hall on Saturday 30th May 2015 from 10am–5pm and Sunday 31st May 2015 from 10am – 4pm. There will be a number of varied cookery demonstrations running throughout the festival weekend on our fabulous cookery theatre, lots of free samples and locally produced food and drink from the heart of Shropshire and beyond. Other festival highlights include a dedicated Kids Kitchen, basket weaving, cocktail making, BBQ, speciality foods, foreign cuisine, delicious hot and cold food to take away or to enjoy in the festival’s outdoor Food Court area. Real ale will be available to purchase by the glass as well as cider, wine and spirits. Mouth-watering cakes and chocolate, freshly ground coffee, hand-whipped ice cream as well as colourful jams, pickles and olives, and Turkish Delight. Our Baklava and fresh pastries are bound to temp even the strictest dieter – there will be numerous tasty treats for every palette at Whitchurch Food and Drink Festival.

With free entry for the entire weekend and lots of fun activities for children, there really is something for everyone. The festival’s Producer Awards will commend high quality products from our producers as well as delectable delicacies from the local shops and restaurants. Sample a freshly cooked delight from our food court area and enjoy it under covered seating in our outdoor space. A Craft and Artisan Market will run alongside the festival in Whitchurch Town Centre, with twenty stalls offering high quality craft and garden products as well as plants. Don’t forget to complete the Town’s Ale and Sausage trail in order to fully experience what the delightful market town of Whitcurch has to offer. Trail leaflets available at the festival.

The Whitchurch Food and Drink Festival is predominantly an indoor event which makes it the perfect weekend destination, even if the weather does let you down.
